Safe Place

My brain on Scotland.
I wish it were easy to throw away pain, trauma, negative experiences. Throw them away into the abyss of the forgotten.

The sea; my safe place.

Sat here, this is possible, for those memories that torment me, to become so minute.

The awareness that I am not my trauma or the product of it.

The realization that I am what I allow myself to be; a survivor.

A survivor of battle that is life. War on myself, war on others – war on what was and what is to come.

When you feel like you’re simply surviving life, take yourself away to your safe place.
